About the Editors

Gráinne O’Brien is a graduate of University of Limerick with a BA in English and History and a Master’s in Gender, Culture and Society. Her academic work focuses on feminist and queer theory primarily on the Harry Potter books and movies. She has also done work on Twilight and The Hunger Games series. Gráinne just co-organised ‘Magic is Might 2012’, a two day international academic conference on the Harry Potter series for the University of Limerick, and co-edited its book of proceedings that has just been published. She has just started research on children’s books published by Neil Gaiman. She currently lives in California.

Alexandra Dunne graduated from the University of Limerick with a BA in English and History and from the National University of Ireland, Galway, with an MA in Literature and Publishing. Her graduate thesis focussed on contemporary science fiction publishing in Ireland. Alexandra’s academic interests lie within the field of speculative fiction, it’s cultural influence, and its interaction with themes of gender, sexuality and subversion. She was part of the review committee for ‘Magic is Might 2012’ and currently lives in Toronto, Canada.
